Heaven on Earth

A spacious home located on a high floor with seaview was what we had been looking for after we sold our place at Bukit Timah in 2007.
What we eventually got was, err, somewhat different.
However, with our huge enthusiasm and imagination, Esman and I managed to transform it into the one in our dreams and at the same time, successfully created a home that has a warm and cozy atmosphere.

Our comfortable Chesterfield couch- the only item we took pains to search for. We embarked on a hunt for it across the causeway last June to get this beauty. Got it at a price that made both of us go Yippedyyy Doo! Good deal. Hi 5 hubs!

Part of the dining room and the kitchen.

The amazing view of the reservoir. Anytime I feel like I need a breather, I just go to the balcony and look at the calming waters.

Showcase of family photographs, a perennial favourite, creating a relaxing feel. :)

Nyla's library. Anytime she feels bored of her toys or me, she'll sit at this very spot and try to read on her own.

Nyla's room. PINK! Tried to run away from this obvious choice for my girl but am glad I didn't.
Thanks Di for the trampoline!

We've been staying in our awesome new place since September 2008 and up till now, we are still falling in love with our new home.
I hope to stay true to this place and never sell it. :)

Introducing....

I brought the camera to the hospital, thinking that I would snap as many pictures as I could of my nephew.
Thanks Farha for the camera!
Well, by the time I reached the hospital, there were many visitors in the ward.
Relatives and friends of the new parents.
I got carried away and posed with my favourite makciks in the whole wide world. Hah!

A while later when it became less crowded, I entered the ward and tried to snap pictures of the newborn.
However I got distracted (again!) and decided to join in the interesting conversation between my pregnant best friend and my not pregnant anymore sister in law.
Just as I was about to take his picture, he started squirming and he cried.

Obviously, it was very inappropriate of me to be paparazzi while my Bah and Netty were panicking right?
So I gave up and decided to just post the mms pic of the freshly baked baby my Bah sent me instead!

So here he is:

Farooq Badrul Hisham

Heroes

This couple deserves a standing ovation.
I'm not saying this because one of them is my flesh and blood.
The past few years had been difficult for them and only God knows how much their hearts have ached.
I admire their strength because they never dwelled on the losses, never giving up.
I've never seen a couple so perseverant in the face of adversity and challenge.
They remained even stronger and braved the choppy times together.
Most importantly, they continue to have faith in Allah.

Yesterday, 10th March 2009, was a momentous occassion for the both of them as they finally receive the most anticipated and long awaited gift they have always wanted: their son.
Such a perfect baby boy he is with a head full of hair!
Congratulations Bah and Netty from all of us.
I AM AN AUNTY!

Dressed by Daddy

Esman is usually 'in charge' of Nyla on Sunday afternoons when I work.
He'll usually bring her to the playground to build sandcastles, go kite-flying, swimming..etc. The outdoor stuff.
Of course, I feel very fortunate to have a full partner on the homefront .

Thus, I shall not criticise the inconsequential things like him dressing Nyla in mismatched outfits or colours.
How to get upset when he puts in effort into putting together the most ridiculous outfits for Nyla right?
I just do not have the heart to tell him.
I'll just cringe because I have to allow Nyla to walk around looking pretty silly.

I still remembered vividly when Esman and Nyla visited me at the campsite last year during the P5 camp.
I was so excited anticipating their arrival but when I saw Nyla very comfortably clad in her pyjamas, I had a jaw-dropping moment.
Of all the pyjamas Esman could choose, he chose the most berlapok one ever!
His excuse: Night time what! Nyamok gigit her, how?

Now, of course I do not expect my husband to dress my daughter up like a princess because I myself do not dress her up in very fancy clothes. Trust me, I tried putting pretty headbands on her head but she would yell,
" Mommmyyyyy, get this thing off my head! It hurts! I have a headache!"
So I just let her curly hair be free like a bird's nest.

As long as she is comfortable.
Now back to my dearest husband,I just need him to do the basics like putting clothes that are matching.
And so he tried and dressed her up in this.

Yes, they match! But they are home clothes, for heaven's sake!

Well, I guess I just have to console myself with the knowledge and just hope and pray that no one will ever think I was the one who dressed Nyla.
Ini belom kes Nyla nak dress up on her own! But I think she passed with flying colours lor!

This look was way better than Daddy's fashion, babe!

Well whatever it is honey, you're an amazing daddy...

And whether or not ,you make your babe look silly, she loves you very very very much. Always.

Feeling Under the Weather

So much to write but Nyla had been horribly sick the past week.
She was down with fever, flu and cough. Poor girl.
I went to the doctor thrice and on the third visit, the doctor advised us to bring her to the hospital due to prolonged fever.
In the end, the paediatrician did not give any medicine after confirming with a blood test that it was a viral fever.
She has since recovered. Alhamdullilah.

After missing school for 8 days, she was a bit apprehensive and jittery about going to school yesterday.
Maklomlah dah naik lemak di rumah selama seminggu!

Tis the season to be ill, I suppose.
I seem to be hearing people cough and sneeze everywhere I go.

Hmmm. Now, my throat is itchy and my body is starting to ache.....
